Caerphilly-based computer network firm wins major contract with Sony

Twister Pair Technologies, a computer network specialist based in Caerphilly, has won a major contract for it to provide networking solutions to the Welsh manufacturing division of Sony.
The contract has seen the firm re-cable Sony’s manufacturing plant in Pencoed with more than three kilometres of OM4 fibre optic backbone cabling and 17 kilometres of copper cabling.
It creates data and computer network solutions – whether wired, wireless or fibre optic – and offers up design, installation and fault-finding services. Since being founded in 2009, it’s worked with the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors right across the UK.
David Morgan, IT manager at Sony UK Technology Centre, said: “We were in need of some substantial re-cabling as some of our infrastructure was twenty five years old. We were also operating at full capacity, which meant we were restricted in terms of future growth.
“Twisted Pair were excellent. Their engineers were technically competent and worked to exacting standards and produced high-quality workmanship.
“They clearly labelled and tested each and every item, which in a huge building such as this is no mean feat. The twisted pair contractors even brought their own hoover and cleaned up after themselves.”
Mark Cushing, managing director of Twisted Pair Technologies, said:“It was a pleasure to work with a world renowned brand such as Sony”.
“In just over eight weeks we installed an all new fibre optic infrastructure including 22 new or re-fitted data cabs with multiple redundant fibre optic links and over 350 cat5e data outlets.
“Through servicing this contract we have also supported some of the 32 start-ups based in the UK Technology centre. This contract is a perfect example of our plans to grow Twisted Pair into one of the leading computer networking firms in the UK.”
