Cardiff Business Awards 2018 to celebrate tech and innovation in Wales
The shortlist for the fourth ever Cardiff Business Awards has finally been unveiled, with a particular emphasis placed on technology and innovation.
Aimed at celebrating the success stories of businesses and entrepreneurs working in Cardiff, the awards ceremony will take place on June 15th at City Hall.
Kicking off at 6.30pm, the event is not only a chance for attendees to celebrate the best business talent based in the Welsh capital but also to network.
There will be a drinks reception and dinner during the awards ceremony, followed by an aftershow party. Tickets can be bought from the official Cardiff Business Awards website.
In the Creative and Digital Business of the Year category, the Big Learning Company, Illustrate Digital, Smörgåsbord and Sotic have been shortlisted. The award is sponsored by the University of South Wales.
Meanwhile, Amplyfi, Genesis Biosciences, Sports Injury Fix and Thermal Compaction Group are competing for the Innovation Business of the Year gong, which is sponsored by the Welsh Government.
The Start-up Business of the Year category recognises CDB Design & Build, Paperclip, Simply Do Ideas and The Studio, sponsored by LexisNexis. Amplyfi is also up for Technology Business of the Year, along with TrakCel and We Build Bots.
Elsewhere, co-working space Tramshed Tech has been nominated for ICAEW Community Business of the Year, and We Build Bot’s Paul Shepherd has the Entrepreneur of the Year title up for grabs.
The awards will reflect that fact that “Cardiff is growing rapidly as a centre for economic activity and as a great place to work and live”, said the organisers.
They explained: “Not only are financial and professional services firms being attracted to relocate to the city but existing companies are expanding and there is an exciting new start-up scene in sectors such as life sciences and the digital economy.
“The inaugural Cardiff Business Awards in 2015 brought the business community together for the first time to recognise those entrepreneurial and innovative ventures that are making a difference.
“In 2018, the fourth Cardiff Business Awards will continue to celebrate the best businesses in Cardiff and the vast potential that exists within the capital city of Wales.”
