Cardiff estate agency takes property viewing to the next level with VR

Jeffrey Ross, an estate agency based in Cardiff, has launched its own virtual reality platform to offer customers a new way to view properties.

It’s become one of the first Welsh property agencies to introduce VR technology, giving consumers the ability to view properties without having to leave the comfort of their homes.

The firm already has more than 50 homes available to view through its new platform. It’ll be offering the service to all customers, and the price will be included in their overall fees.

Matterport technology is used in the platform, and it takes less than two hours to film a house using a specialist 3D camera – making it efficient to add and update properties constantly.

In order to use the app, customers need to wear a pair of VR googles. These can be purchased for £5, but the agency will be providing them free of charge in its Pontcanna and Cathays offices.

Ross Hooper-Nash, director of Jeffrey Ross, said that his company is always looking to implement new technologies to streamline operations and customer experiences.

“We are always looking for new ways to help our customers view properties, and we know how much time it could save both buyers and sellers if an initial viewing can be done via a platform such as VR,” he said.

“That first viewing of a potential new home can be quite daunting for all parties involved, and  VR tour can actually make you feel like you are walking around the rooms and hallway.

“It’s a completely new experience. The technology is so good that you can see the intricacies of each room and really feel like you are already in the property.

He added: “We want to offer this service to all of our clients, regardless of the size or value of the property. We’re really proud of this new service and hope that it will set us apart from the competition.”
