Cardiff’s Roath Park turned into mobile game

Mobile application developer Rant Media has created a mobile game set in Cardiff’s Roath Park.

In the game, called Parclings, players visit different areas of the park to collect tiny paper-based creatures.

There are a series of iBeacons – which are based on Bluetooth technology – spread across the park that act as markers for different Parcling Zones.

For example, in Roath Park, Tropical Parclings live in the hothouse, while Antarctic Parclings can be found near Captain Scott’s memorial lighthouse.

The game will allow children to have fun in a great setting and teach them how code is used to control digital technologies for themselves and help improve their digital literacy.
