Cloud tech firm achieves business success across the pond

Cloud technology firm Object Matrix has secured around £1 million worth of new business in the Americas.

The Cardiff-based firm, which provides hybrid cloud and object storage achieve solutions, has signed deals with a major American news network and the owners of Madison Square Garden.

Its integrated private and hybrid cloud platforms are being used by global broadcasters, telcos, banks and utilities companies to preserve their video content.

Recently, the company attended the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas, where it was named the best storage solution by the International Association for Broadcast and Media).

On this trip, the company also scooped up between £750k and £1.5million of new business from a range of companies based in the US, Canada and Chile.

Nick Pearce-Tomenius, marketing director of the firm, said: “We travel extensively from our Cardiff base to build the levels of trust required to do business in the Americas, and to sustain our success over there, you need to go out and meet with your potential customers, as ultimately people buy from people.

“Over the last five years the Welsh Government has enabled us to make in-country visits and attend international trade shows in order to build and maintain that trust. The award is a big deal for us and has created further interest in Object Matrix in the Americas.”

To coincide with continued growth, the company has also appointed Steve Maggs as its new chief operating and financial officer. He previously worked for Occam DM & Covalent Software.

“Object Matrix has an incredible track record of growth and I am thrilled to be joining this award winning company at this exciting time,” he said.

“I look forward to working with the team as it continues to build upon its position as a pioneering software and object based storage provider”

Jonathan Morgan, CEO Object Matrix, added: “We are really pleased to welcome Steve to the Object Matrix family.

“As well as being a top class CFO, Steve brings about a level of process rigour throughout the company that every growing company needs and which allows the rest of the management team to focus on their specialities.”
