Cyber security firm opens office in Penarth
Xcina, which describes itself as a digital resilience company, has launched an operation in Wales.
The company, a part of the Shearwater Group plc, recently opened an office in Penarth-based co-working space and innovation centre Tec Marina.
Looking to support Welsh businesses improve their cyber security, the firm helps firms protect important business information by preparing them for increasing legislative and regulatory demands.
It’s on a mission to help companies better understand data and how it should be held in accordance with new data rules, including GDPR. The company supports clients in processing data, too.
It provides services such as monitoring, analysis, detection and response to cyber threats. On its website, Xcina writes: “As the digital landscape rapidly evolves we are facing unprecedented levels of increasingly sophisticated and complex security threats.
“At Xcina, we analyse, monitor and detect these threats, improving operation controls and enabling you to be prepared for evolving regulation in an increasingly interconnected world.”
Jason Dunlop, who handles regional business development in Wales for the firm, said he’s excited to be operating in Wales. He explained that the move is an important part of the company’s expansion plans.

A key focus for Xcina is supporting businesses in preparation for new data protection regulations that come in to force in May 2018 and increasing protection against emerging cyber security threats,” he commented.
