Digital Dozen 2016 opens for applications

The organisers of Digital 2016 are on the lookout for twelve of the best digital and tech businesses in Wales to be part of its prestigious Digital Dozen.

Developed and launched last year, the Digital Dozen has become an integral part of the event’s line-up. Its aim is to showcase Welsh businesses that are doing wonders with technology.

Applications are now open, and companies – big or small – are being urged to nominate themselves for consideration via the event’s website.

They can be from any sector but need to demonstrate that they’ve been using technology to make an impact in their industry. Once selected, they’ll be showcased at the conference.

As well as this, the selected companies will be invited to an exclusive networking event with a group of top angel investors in London. This will be organised by Innovation Point.

There’s already been a lot of talk about this year’s Digital Dozen, and businesses such as Echosec, Delio, Doopoll and Hoowla have all been tipped to make the list this year.

David Warrender, CEO of the company organising the event Innovation Point, said: The Digital Dozen gives our up and coming tech stars the opportunity to be recognised for their excellence in everything they do.

“We’re looking for companies who are blazing a trail with their uses of digital – ones that are not only making waves in the Welsh tech scene but helping to put our nation on the map as a major global player.”

Finalists will be in the company of notable Welsh tech firms such as Blurrt, Veeqo, Moneypenny, Schoop, Nudjed and Droptask, which were part of the Dozen last year.

Jason Smith, CEO and founder of Blurrt, said: “Being named as one of the Digital Dozen is a great opportunity for businesses to get their name out there and spread the word about the clever ways they are using tech.

“Being part of 2015’s Digital Dozen really helped raise Blurrt’s profile and I’d definitely urge other businesses to put their names forward to take part this year.”

Digital 2016 will take place on June 6th and 7th at the Celtic Manor in Newport.
