Entrepreneur Wales Awards back for another year
Entrepreneur Wales Awards is back for another year and is on the search for the most enterprising individuals in Wales.
Run by the founders of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, they aim to recognise the hard work and inspiring stories of Welsh entrepreneurs and businesses.
Rather than simply focusing on the balance sheet, the awards highlight achievement and innovative ideas. Last year’s winners included Just Eat CEO David Buttress, Welsh ICE founder Gareth Jones, Lisa Tobia who designed Admiral’s Cardiff reception and social-enterprise founder Jo Ashburner.
Following the success of the awards last year, Andy Ling, Darren Thomas and David Buttress join the 2016 panel, consisting of the likes of GoCompare founder Hayley Parsons, author and TV presenter Lyndon Wood and serial investor Ashley Cooper on the judging panel.
Last year, over 200 people entered and there were 18 winners in total. More than 300 people attended the awards ceremony held at the Welsh Millennium Centre in November. The organisers say this year’s will be bigger and better.
Categories for the 2016 awards cover a wide variety of industries, including technology, social enterprise, fashion, food and drink, retail and manufacturing. There’s also a new category for student entrepreneur of the year.
Alex Popham, former Welsh rugby international and co-founder of the Entrepreneur Wales Awards, said: “The first Entrepreneur Wales Awards in 2015 was a fantastic celebration of the fantastic businesses and entrepreneurs Wales has to offer.
“But we are going to celebrate even more inspiring stories this year. Wales is really making a name for itself in business and entrepreneurship, and we have no doubt that the entries will give plenty of optimism for the future.”
