Technology companies from across Wales are being invited to apply for the 2018 Wales Technology Awards, sponsored by GoCompare.
The awards, which take place annually, are aimed at championing the outstanding achievements and innovations made by the country’s 3,000 technology companies.
Managed by technology networking organisation ESTnet, the awards will continue to shine a spotlight on the role technology is playing as a driving force of the Welsh economy.
In November, ESTnet confirmed CoGompare as the event’s headline partner. Other partners include the likes of Smart Solutions and Cardiff’s new Barclays Eagle Lab.
The biggest award of the night will be the Sir Michael Moritz Tech Start-up category, although there are are several other categories that illustrate the continuing development of Wales’ vital tech sector.
Entries are now open, and businesses have until February 2018 to put themselves or others forward for categories such as Best New Talent, Innovative Product of the Year and Best Tech Workplace.
Commenting on the Award’s launch, ESTnet managing director Avril Lewis said: “Here in Wales we design, develop, manufacture, and integrate some of the world’s most advanced enabling technologies. We want to hear from those who drive to be disruptive and inspire others to do the same.
“If you represent a company that is breaking new ground, driving innovation, and creating new technology to achieve your goals, these are your awards. It’s time to see your successes recognised.”
Speaking last month, GoCompare’s chief technology officer Jackson Hull said: “At GoCompare we’re very proud of our Welsh roots, so we are delighted to support an event that complements our ambition of helping to position Wales as a leader in technology development.
“As a company we are committed to the creation of meaningful data and engineering-led careers, and are working hard to forge closer links with the business, government and academic communities.
He added: “Wales is full of inspiring technology companies that do truly remarkable and often ground-breaking work, but we are almost too modest for our own good.
“The Wales Technology Awards are a fantastic opportunity for Wales-based technology leaders to enjoy some well-deserved time in the limelight, and raise the profile of the county’s vibrant tech sector.”
