First speakers for Digital 2016 confirmed

The first speakers for technology conference Digital 2016 have officially been announced.

Lara Lewington, a presenter on BBC Click, as well as representatives from the likes of Google, Twitter, Sage, HP and Cisco are to speak at the event.

They’ll cover a range of topics, from the latest developments in software to trending technologies like virtual reality, big data and the Internet of Things.

As well as this, attendees will get a chance to play with some of the cutting edge tech mentioned in the various talks at an interactive section called the Digital Red Carpet.

There’ll be a selection of speakers from the Welsh tech sector, too. Gareth Jones, CEO of Caerphilly-based start-up incubator Welsh ICE, will talk about the current gaps in provision, while Cardiff Start founder Neil Cocker will discuss revenue streams.

Telecoms tycoon Sir Terry Matthews –  who is Wales’s first billionaire – will also be speaking at the event, as well as S4C’s Huw Marshall. He’ll deliver a workshop designed for broadcasters.

Digital 2016 is set to take place at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on June 6th and 7th. The organisers expect a turnout of 2,000 delegates, who’ll come from all over the UK.

David Warrender, CEO of Innovation Point, said: “Digital is disrupting all areas of modern work and life and it’s essential for any business venture or education provider to embrace the power of digital technologies.

“Digital 2016 will bring a diverse mix of people together in the spirit of collaboration, sharing knowledge and discussing the opportunities of tomorrow. We are confident that this year’s event will rival some of the UK’s major tech gatherings.”
