GoCompare becomes headline partner of 2018 Wales Technology Awards
Price comparison giant GoCompare has teamed up with the ESTNet to become the headline partner for the 2018 Wales Technology Awards.
The awards, which take place annually, are aimed at championing the outstanding achievements and innovations made by the country’s 3,000 technology companies.
With the support of the Newport-based company, the awards will continue to shine a spotlight on the role technology is playing as a driving force of the Welsh economy.
One of the UK’s biggest comparision services, GoGompare launched in November 2016 and entered the London Stock Exchange in November 2016 following years of growth.
Founded by Welsh entreprenuer Hayley Parsons, the website helps people take control of their household budgets – saving money and changing the way they shop.
Backed by some of the industry’s most influential companies and experts, the 2018 awards will take place on May 3rd at Cardiff’s City Hall. Entries will open on December 5th.
Jackson Hull, chief technology officer of GoCompare, said: “At GoCompare we’re very proud of our Welsh roots, so we are delighted to support an event that complements our ambition of helping to position Wales as a leader in technology development.
“As a company we are committed to the creation of meaningful data and engineering-led careers, and are working hard to forge closer links with the business, government and academic communities.
“Wales is full of inspiring technology companies that do truly remarkable and often ground-breaking work, but we are almost too modest for our own good.
“The Wales Technology Awards are a fantastic opportunity for Wales-based technology leaders to enjoy some well-deserved time in the limelight, and raise the profile of the county’s vibrant tech sector.”
Avril Lewis, managing director of the ESTnet, said: “GoCompare’s success is an excellent demonstration of how Welsh innovations are changing the way we all work and live.
“The company exemplifies how the application of new technology can transform an industry. It’s continued development and adoption of new innovations has underpinned its growth to become a major Welsh employer and one of our most recognisable brands.
“It is a privilege to have GoCompare join us to support, recognise and celebrate the Welsh technology companies whose products and services are underpinning the success of practically every sector across the UK and further.”
