Great British Entrepreneur Awards secures partnership with NatWest

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards has announced that it’s formed a three-year partnership with NatWest and Entrepreneurial Spark to accelerate growth.

Thanks to increased support from NatWest, the organisers of the awards will now be able to expand coverage across the UK and hold ceremonies in Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester Edinburgh and London.

Now in its fifth year, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards has celebrated some of the UK’s most outstanding entrepreneurs, including the likes of Just Eat founder David Buttress.

Francesca Russell set up sister event the Entrepreneur Wales Awards two years ago and is proud to now extend the Cardiff ceremony to businesses in the south West.

“As a Welsh entrepreneur, running a successful business in Cardiff, I was proud to have launched the Entrepreneur Wales Awards and I am delighted that as a result of the support from NatWest, these awards are now part of the bigger Great British Entrepreneur Awards,” she said.

“Entrepreneurs inject competition into markets, create jobs and spur innovation. In many cases their businesses change the ways in which we live and work. These awards are different because they celebrate the story behind these people – true entrepreneurs are as much about their story as they are about their balance sheet.”

Entrepreneurial Spark will also support the growth of the awards. Powered by NatWest, the organisation has start-up hubs based in Cardiff and Bristol.

Its Cardiff hub opened in Central Square last August, and so far it’s supported 64 businesses, attracted more than £1 million in investment and created 95 jobs.

Caroline Thompson, NatWest’s entrepreneur development manager who oversees the Cardiff hub, said: “Both Wales and the South West have vibrant entrepreneurial economies thanks to strong support networks for small businesses as well as the passion and dedication we see from the entrepreneurs themselves.

“These awards are the perfect showcase for the people behind the ideas which so often go on to become such huge success stories. NatWest is delighted that our support will enable the Great British Entrepreneur Awards to recognise the brightest and best of the region’s entrepreneurial talent.”

Applications for the 2017 awards are now open and will celebrate entrepreneurship across 14 categories including innovation, high street, start-up and creative Industries. You can enter here.
