Interview: Laura Dunn, founder of LED Media

Digital marketing agencies and professionals play a pivotal role in the growing Welsh technology industry. They’re not only flying the flag for Welsh innovation, but they’re also helping to pioneer it.

Tech Dragons recently caught up with Laura Dunn, the founder and managing director of LED Media. She’s created a digital agency that has operations in both the UK and US.

TD: Who are you, and what does your company do?

LD: I specialise in digital marketing, content creation and social media strategy for businesses and individuals in the UK and the USA.

I had been thinking of setting up my own business for many months. Colleagues and friends were asking for my advice on marketing and social media – they made me take the leap!

TD: What problem is it solving?

LD: I work to help businesses and individuals identify and meet their marketing, content and social media needs. Through my services, I help businesses to create engaging content, devise and implement social media strategies and help with a whole host of other digital marketing needs.

My work is encouraging others and showing what is possible to effectively engage with customers and followers.

TD: What makes your business unique?

LD: I think the fact that I operate both in the UK and the USA makes both my business and its approach unique. I work with a range of businesses in the B2B, tech, retail, health, lifestyle and luxury markets, as well as big businesses, start-ups and individuals.

TD: What’s been your biggest success, and biggest obstacle?

LD: My biggest success has been working with a fantastic set of clients who understand the power of digital and content, and the positive impact it can have on their customers and ultimately, their business.

As I’m sure other business owners can agree, often the biggest obstacles are ones which you aren’t expecting. How you deal with these can often be your biggest success.

TD: Where do you see your business in 5 years’ time?

In 5 years time, I hope to have grown my business in both the UK and the US, and have worked with a number of brands and companies on my dream list.

TD: What do you think of Welsh tech, and do you have any advice?

LD: Wales is shaping the future of the tech industry, and with so many exciting and diverse start-ups doing great things, we’ll continue to lead the way on a national and global scale. Gain as much experience as you can, say yes to all opportunities and go for it!
