Media tech firm expands its Cardiff HQ

Technology firm Sorenson Media has expanded its UK headquarters, based in Cardiff, to keep pace with new hires and continued business growth.

The company has taken occupancy of additional office space next door to its existing facilities in Cathedral Road, Cardiff. It said the move will help support its expanding team.

Established in Salt Lake City in the US, the company expanded to Cardiff in 2013 in a bid to bring its television analytics platform to European broadcasters.

It inked a five-year lease on a 5,585 sq ft of offices at Carlyle House in Cathedral Road back in 2016. Now, the business has taken on a new contract for the whole of the adjacent building.

Operating in the next-generation television arena, Sorenson Media has developed a technology platform that provides broadcasters with viewing analytics and interactive capabilities. It allows them to achieve better ratings and boost revenue.

Steve Cormie,  executive vice president of Sorenson Media, said Cardiff is the perfect location for the firm. He explained: “Carlyle House has been a great fit for us and with our team’s growth we had outgrown the offices. It was a natural fit for us to expand into this nearby, additional office space.”

Mark Sutton, partner at Knight Frank in Cardiff, added: “Cathedral Road has proved to be a popular choice for Sorenson, combining great parking and easy access to the city centre.

“The Carlyle House office filled up rapidly for this company that has only been in Cardiff for a few years. The additional space in 9 Cathedral Road will be fitted out to house new staff in the New Year.”
