New support opportunity for Welsh tech firms

Welsh businesses that are looking to develop emerging technologies are being invited to an information event in June to discuss a new support opportunity.

The Springboard Business Innovation Centre, which is based in Cwmbran, is inviting companies to a drop-in session on June 14 so entrepreneurs can find out more about CEMT (the Centre of Excellence in Mobile and Emerging Technologies).

This new organisation offers support to small and medium-sized businesses located in the Valleys, West and North Wales that are in the process of developing new technologies.

Led by the University of South Wales and with £4.2 million of backing from the European Regional Development Fund, the centre provides design and testing support.

Hosted by the university, the event will run from 9am until 4.30pm. It’ll be an opportunity for businesses to learn about the support on offer and to ask questions.

Mark Griffiths, co-director of the centre, said: “CEMET provides a comprehensive package of support to develop products through road-mapping and knowledge transfer.”

“We support Welsh businesses that are seeking to create new products, solutions and services, through bespoke funding of collaborative research projects.

“At the drop-in session, we’ll be able to answer business owners’ questions about how we can get their ideas off the ground.”
