Newport data centre wins £10 million development contract
Next Generation Data has won a £10 million contract to build a new data hall at its Newport premises.
The firm, which has a number of data centres in the UK, says the new hall will be built before Christmas and will create 100 jobs for contractors.
Earlier this year, it completed an £8 million expansion of the Newport facility, which saw the construction of five additional data halls. These have all been sold on.
NGD’s latest data hall is being built for an unnamed global company to provide it with the technological infrastructure it needs for its expanding operations.
Current customers of the business include the likes of IBM, Intel, Microsoft, BT and O2. Its headquarters are currently based in Surrey.
