Nominations open for the 2019 Wales Technology Awards

Nominations for the seventh consecutive Wales Technology Awards are now open.

The awards, organised by industry body ESTnet, will celebrate the achievements and innovations of Wales’ 3,000 technology companies.

Organisations and entrepreneurs have until April 5th to submit applications for the prestigious awards, with the ceremony itself taking place on June 20th at Cardiff City All.

Avril Lewis MBE, managing director of The ESTnet, said: “For the past seven years, the Wales Technology Awards have grown into one of the biggest nights of the year for the thriving technology industry in Wales.

“We received a record number of entries for last year’s awards and were impressed by the quality of the competition from both established organisations and vibrant start-up tech companies.”

Award categories cover all areas of the Welsh technology sector, including the coveted Sir Michael Moritz Tech Start Up Award and Innovative Product of the Year Award.

Past winners include power module designer Silvertel, AI firm WeBuildBots, investment platform Wealthify, DevOpsGroupdata analytics leaders AMPLYFI and video game developer Wales Interactive.

“However, the awards are much more than simply recognising success within Wales. They also serve to highlight and promote the Welsh tech industry as not only a key part of the Welsh economy, but also as a hot bed of innovation and excellence both across the UK and internationally,” added Lewis.

“As such, the awards not only bring together the best minds in Welsh technology, but also wider professional services, academic, investment and entrepreneurial communities that help create the eco-system that is crucial for the industry to thrive.”
