Oi Conference to feature ignition hub for Welsh tech start-ups

The Oi Conference, which is set to take place in Cardiff’s City Hall on March 30th, is to feature a special hub to help bring together and support Welsh tech start-ups.

Called the Ignition Stage, it’ll provide education and networking opportunities to tech start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs. The hub will be free and located within the exhibition hall.

There’ll be a series of open air keynotes, masterclasses, pitches, Q&As and workshops delivered by leading figures in the technology and social media industries.

Businesses working on innovative tech products and solutions will have a place to share their experiences and possibly raise seed capital from selected local investors.

As well as this, the conference’s organisers are also offering 1000 free tickets to an expo floor of around 50 companies and organisations. There’ll be product demonstrations and seminars.

Paul Shepherd, organiser of the conference, praised the work of the event’s partners and supporters in supporting his vision to help ambitious Welsh start-ups and entrepreneurs.

He told Tech Dragons: “It’s thanks to our established partnerships with governments, investment groups, media outlets and regional incubators that OiConf attracts some of the UK’s most exciting young businesses and SME’s.

“The Ignition Stage will equip these business leaders with the best tools and solutions to help them accelerate growth and explore business opportunities.

“We wanted to offer free access to knowledge that could help to close the digital skills gap. That’s why our 50 strong expo floor and our Ignition Stage is free for all.

“We’ll have demonstrations, new products, seminars on digital skills, chances to meet with investors and hear from companies that are scaling as well as just starting out.”
