Search for Wales’s leading women in tech

Innovate UK is offering 12 leading women in tech and innovation a support package to get their ideas off the ground.

The organisation’s Women In Innovation competition is now open for entries and closes on August 24th. Additionally, four women will receive £50,000 each to further their business plans.

Winners will get support such as introductions to investors, communication training, advice on IP and copyright, business model workshops and guidance on funding.

Awards will be spread across several key areas in innovation: manufacturing and materials, infrastructure systems, emerging and enabling technologies, and health and life sciences.

Innovation Point, the Welsh Government-backed organisation driving innovation in Wales, is offering support to people looking to enter the competition.

As well as releasing a webinar briefing on the opportunity, the Innovation Point team will also be running a briefing session at its Newport offices on Monday July 25th. It’ll run between 12:30-3pm.

If you’re looking to apply but can’t make the briefing, the next Digital Tuesday event will focus on the competition. Taking place on August 2nd, it’ll showcase best practice in innovation.

Colin Batten, head of partnerships at Innovation Point, said: “Innovation Point has been established to drive innovation in Wales and to create opportunities.

“One of the many ways it helps Welsh businesses, is to provide support when applying for funding and to take away the stress and hard work that bidding processes can require.

“We are keen to support and work with innovative Welsh women on this great funding opportunity and we look forward to meeting many of them at our briefing session on 25 July.”
