Sony UK TEC unveils new eco friendly scheme

Electronics manufacturer Sony UK TEC has unveiled a new scheme that lets customers purchase HD equipment which is refurbished to factory standards.

The programme is part of a wider initiative launched by the technology giant to encourage and facilitate customers’ access to 4K broadcast technology.

Working in collaboration with Sony Professional Solutions Europe (PSE), Sony UK TEC is now letting customers trade in their used equipment to help them purchase the latest Sony 4K cameras and kit.

These devices will then be refurbished at Sony UK TEC’s professional Service and Repair Centre in Pencoed and resold with a manufacturer’s warranty to customers.

According to Sony UK TEC, the scheme will “ provide customers with greater access to high-specification HD equipment”. It comes as the facility recently began manufacturing the brand’s top-of-the-range 4K broadcast camera (HDC-4300).

On the launch of this project, Sony UK TEC’s Operations Director Rob Wilson, said he was “very excited to be introducing another solution, which complements our current thriving business”.

He said: “Sony UK TEC’s Broadcast System Camera team is proud to be part of this truly innovative project, which supports sales of the latest 4K broadcast equipment as well as endorsing further HD sales as part of the refurbished programme.

“We believe the Sony Refurbished project will have a significant impact across businesses at all levels. We are thrilled to be driving this new solution for our clients from right here in South Wales in collaboration with Sony Europe.”
