Swansea University prepping new computer science centre
Swansea University has announced plans to set up a new computer science research centre on the soon-to-open Bay Campus.
The university hopes the centre, to be called Computational Foundry, will attract world-leading researchers to Wales and place Swansea at the heart of a thriving regional tech and digital ecosystem.
It’ll do this by acting as a beacon for research collaborations with private and public partners and will enable academics to locate their research in the commercial world.
At the same time, It’ll create a strong entrepreneurial culture based around research and provide growth for the regional economy through knowledge transfer and associated spin out activity.
Building on the university’s renowned status for research, the foundry will include research and innovation facilities such as collaboration spaces, research labs for project work and teaching space for the next generation of digital entrepreneurs.
A launch date is yet to be confirmed.
