Tech Nation launches search for the best tech start-ups

Industry body Tech Nation is on the search for the most exciting technology start-up from across the UK to take part in the Rising Stars pitch competition.

Building on the success of Northern Stars from Tech Nation, it’s going national to discover the best tech start-ups and entrepreneurs from every corner of the UK.

The winners will receive an exclusive prize package designed to take their business to the next level – including access to mentors and investors, pitch training and a nationwide press campaign.

To enter, your tech business must have been going 1-3 years, have a UK HQ, be at seed to pre-Series A funding stage and have at least one active client or pilot.

Judges will be looking out for companies that have not only created an innovative product that resonates with customers, but that have the desire and ambition to scale. Application close on November 4th.

The judging panel consists of investors, heads of co-working spaces and accelerators, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, academics and community influencers.

Esme Caulfield, competitions lead at Tech Nation, said: “Rising Stars is the UK’s newest and most exciting competition for innovative, early-stage tech startups, with a prize package designed to send your business into the stratosphere.

“We’re scouring the country looking for the UK’s most ambitious tech startups to join Tech Nation’s first-ever Rising Stars cohort. Whether you’re in St Ives or Inverness, Bangor (Wales) or Bangor (Northern Ireland), we’re looking for stellar startups with the passion, proposition and ambition.”

This news comes as Tech Nation is set to hold an ecosystem event at Tramshed Tech on Thursday. It’ll bring together technology businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and other industry partners.

MB Christie, chief operating officer of Tech Nation, said: “We are excited that the grand finale of the tour is being held in Cardiff where the Welsh tech community has continued to flourish.

“Over the past six months, we’ve been privileged to meet key influences and tech entrepreneurs across 11 cities on Tech Nation on Tour

“These visits have stimulated conversations about how we can help these ambitious entrepreneurs to reach the next stage of growth by connecting them with their peers in different regions across the country.”
