Tech Nation to bring its tour event to Cardiff
Tech Nation, a networking organisation for innovative entrepreneurs from across the country, is set to bring its popular On Tour event to Wales.
It’ll take place at Tramshed Tech on October 11th and will shine a light on the 2018 Tech Nation report, which was released in the spring. There’ll be a keynote speech and a panel session.
Sponsored by Barclays, Ernst & Young and Jones Lang LaSall, the event is aimed at connecting technology businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and tech ecosystem partners.
Having kicked off in May, TechNation On Tour has visited cities such as Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. It’ll come to a close in Cardiff.
Backed by the UK Government, Tech Nation helps empower tech entrepreneurs by providing them with growth programmes and networking events. It also promotes the UK’s digital sector through data, stories and media campaigns.
MB Christie, chief operating officer of Tech Nation, said the events are encouraging shared learning and collaboration to keep the UK tech scene a true global player.
“We are excited that the grand finale of the tour is being held in Cardiff where the Welsh tech community has continued to flourish,” she said.
“Over the past six months, we’ve been privileged to meet key influences and tech entrepreneurs across 11 cities on Tech Nation on Tour
“These visits have stimulated conversations about how we can help these ambitious entrepreneurs to reach the next stage of growth by connecting them with their peers in different regions across the country.”
Alun Cairns, Secretary of State for Wales, added: “The latest Tech Nation report underlines the fact Wales is now an established market leader and innovator in technology, home to both a burgeoning number of start-ups and established giants of fin-tech like Go Compare.
“Collectively, this sector is generating more than £600 million in turnover every year which supports 4,600 jobs in Cardiff.
“Flourishing new technology companies are discovering that investors want to back them in Wales. The UK Government is committed to helping technology flourish and today’s annual snapshot points to an industry on the cusp of even faster growth.”
