Techniquest takes on new team members as part of expansion plans

Techniquest, a science discovery centre based in Cardiff Bay, has strengthened its creative team with two new recruits as part of an ongoing expansion plan.

Originally from Llansannor, James Summers has joined the educational charity as Head of Projects. He has extensive experience in science communication, as well as a BA in archaeology and an MA in environmental conservation.

For the past three years, he’s managed national projects at the UK Association for Science and Discovery.  However, before then, he worked for Techniquest as an education and media developer.

In his new role, James will ensure that Techniquest is kitted out with the latest scientific innovations and content to attract new visitors.

Meanwhile, Lloyd Williams has joined the Techniquest Team as its new Content Manager. He will be responsible for the creation and management of the centre’s exhibits.

The organisation is working to redevelop transform its current premises into a contemporary STEM hub. It wants to be at the forefront of science innovation in Wales.

Lesley Kirkpatrick, CEO of Techniquest, said: “During this pivotal time for our organisation, it’s important that we have the right team in place to help us on our mission to deliver interactive STEM learning experiences for all ages.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Lloyd to the team, as well as welcome back James as he returns to us in a senior role at Techniquest.

“Both James and Lloyd are experts in their field, with excellent experience and a knack for innovation. They will no doubt be an asset to our team during this exciting phase of development.”

Talking about his return to Techniquest, James said: “I am excited to return to Techniquest at such a key point and help reenergise the curiosity, wonder and excitement of the latest scientific innovations and technologies in Wales.

“Techniquest is developing some amazing partnerships that will help showcase the importance of STEM industries throughout Wales. I’m looking forward to working with the team to widen our offering and reshape our customer experiences.”
