VFX and motion graphics house Bait Studio nominated for two BAFTA Cymru Awards
VFX and motion graphics house Bait Studio has been nominated for two awards at this year’s prestigious BAFTA Cymru Awards.
The nominations recognise the studio, based at the Welsh Government’s creative industries hub in Cardiff Bay, for both its visual effects and motion graphics work.
BAFTA Cymru takes place annually and honours excellence in broadcasting and production within film and television in Wales.
Bait is nominated in the Titles and Graphic Identity category for the graphics it designed and created for critically acclaimed football documentary Jack to a King: The Swansea City Story for YJB Films.
It’s also nominated for its special and visual effects work on the film A Poet in New York for Modern Television. The drama documents the final days of poet Dylan Thomas and was broadcast on BBC One Wales, BBC Two and BBC America in 2014, during the BBC’s Dylan Thomas Centenary season.
The studio’s interactive arm, Thud Media, recently scored success at the 2015 BAFTA Cymru Games Awards. It received two commendations for Gameplay Design and Sound & Music.
The nominations are the culmination of an exciting year for Bait, with it recently relocating to its brand new 3,500 square ft facility in the Gloworks building in Cardiff.
Bait’s managing director Jon Rennie said: “We’re really thrilled with the nominations, alongside our production partners who are recognised for their success in the other categories.
“Both as a BAFTA Cymru committee member and MD of Bait Studio, it’s great to see the Welsh industry thriving and celebrating its achievements”.
The BAFTA Cymru Awards Ceremony will take place on September 29th at St David’s Hall, Cardiff, hosted by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens.
