Welsh chatbot firm selected for prestigious accelerator

Welsh artificial intelligence firm We Build Bots has been selected to take part in the prestigious Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator.

Run by Oracle’s research and development team, the programme provides innovative technology start-ups with mentorship, co-working space and access to investors.

Through the accelerator, Oracle is creating an ever-expanding global network of start-ups and an alumni programme. We Build Bots has joined six other start-ups in the second cohort.

Founded in April 2016, We Build Bots is the creator of IntelAgent, an AI-powered platform for customer service departments, events, charities, utility providers, publishers and sports clubs.

It’s helping an array of organisations take advantage of AI and chatbot systems, including Sport Wales. The firm designed a chatbot to help increase participation in sport and connect teams with clubs.

The chatbot asks users questions about their exercise preferences, before recommending different sports. It also helps them choose a suitable place where they can participate, providing direct contact details.

Paul Shepherd, founder and CEO of We Build Bots, believes that the accelerator will help him and his team take the business to the next level. “Being selected for the programme means the world to us, and we can’t wait to get started,” he said.

“We can see so many benefits of working with Oracle, and we’re really excited to explore every opportunity the next six months present.”

Reggie Bradford, senior vice president of start-up ecosystem and accelerator at Oracle, praised the calibre of these entrepreneurs and start-ups.

“The startups in Bristol continue to raise the bar for global cloud innovation, and we are proud to welcome a select group of six to our second cohort,” he added.

“Following the success of our initial cohort in Bristol, we will continue to leverage our cloud expertise, leading cloud products, and global network to support their rapid growth.”
