Welsh entrepreneur launches location sharing app

A Welsh entrepreneur has developed an app that lets you find out your location and share it with others.
Sam East came up with Shake Locate after running into difficulty when he tried giving his father directions to his location within a new city.
The app, which launched last week on both Android and iOS, pinpoints your location after you shake your phone. A link you can share via SMS or on social media then appears.
But the app’s functionality doesn’t stop there. You’re also able to create lists of your favourite places, discover what’s near you and share locations with a group of contacts as well as individuals without being connected to the internet.
The entrepreneur told Tech Dragons how he created the app to make things easier for people who aren’t familiar with the things around them.
He said: “If you’re not familiar with your surroundings, it can be difficult to describe how to get to them and the process to share a location can be a fairly long-winded one. I decided to simplify things by creating Shake Locate which works by using longitude and latitude to pinpoint your location.
“I thought that finding and sharing your location should not have to entail opening several apps or windows before copying and pasting links in a new message or post that you would have to create separately. I wanted to deliver a better experience with Shake Locate and make it as accessible as possible.
“As such it is available to use globally and in nine different languages including German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Chinese.”
