Welsh hotelier platform gets accepted into top London incubator
The Booking Factory, a platform for hotel admin staff and marketers, has been accepted onto the TravelTech Lab start-up incubator programme in London.
Evan Davies, who is from West Wales and grew up in a family of hoteliers, launched the company in 2016 to help bring hotel management into the 21st century.
He created a hotel admin and management platform aimed specifically at B&Bs and independent hotels. It gives them the tools to manage their business, build a website and increase revenue.
Traveltech Lab offers co-working space for some of the most promising technology businesses catering for the travel and tourism sector. It’s located in the centre of London, overlooking Tower Bridge.
Companies are given an environment in which they can network and learn, and there’s also free Wi-Fi and a cafe available at the same time. The Booking Factory has been given subsidised space.
Evan told Tech Dragons: “As a start-up, to be around other startups is essential for motivation, ideas and support. London has been great in this aspect but I found it frustrating to not be around any companies in the travel field.
“Traveltech labs solves this by having all the high growth travel tech startups all in one place for collaboration, partnerships and travel talks and events.”
He said Traveltech Lab is an ongoing programme, meaning the company won’t have to move out until it outgrows or decides to transfer to a different location.
“I’m super excited with the opportunity to work alongside some amazing travel startups and also London & Partners who provide some amazing support and have deep links to the London travel scene,” he said.
“The last few months has been a rollercoaster to be honest. We moved to London and left my 2 1/2 year old back home for 3 months while we tried to build the business.
The company continues to grow, and Evan is confident that it has a strong future ahead. He’s currently in the process of hiring a sales advisor after raising £150,000 in September 2016.
“The product is going strong and finally ready for market, and getting into traveltech labs has been the icing on the cake for our second year of hard work,” he added.
“We are hiring our first sales person, got our first multi property group of luxury apartments and raised 150k from Welsh angel investors back in September.”
