Welsh tech entrepreneur up for award
Welsh entrepreneur Ben Milsom has been shortlisted for the young business person of the year gong at the Cardiff Business Awards 2016.
Ben leads the UK operations of Echosec, a fast growing tech start-up that offers social media analysis tools to professionals like journalists. It was part of the 2015 Digital Dozen.
The Cardiff Business Awards, which closed for entry last month, celebrate the best business talent based in the Welsh capital. Sponsored by the likes of Natwest, the award ceremony will take place on Jun 24th at Cardiff’s City Hall.
Launched just last year, the aim of the event is not only to recognise successful entrepreneurs, business people and companies, but also to bring the whole business community together.
Speaking to Tech Dragons, Ben said he’s proud to be a Welsh business person working for a fast-growing international company and is honoured to be shortlisted among some of the best people in business.
He said: “I first heard of Cardiff Business Awards last year for recognising the great accomplishments of individuals and companies based in Wales.
“I was born in Wales, went to school and university in Wales, and now I am a part of a global tech startup making in it’s way in Wales. So to be shortlisted among some of the best Wales has to offer is a real honor.
“The finalists of this years awards just goes to show that Wales is a breeding ground of enterprise. I am a true believer that Echosec wouldn’t be where it is today without the support and community found here.
Whether I win the award or not, I hope that I can inspire the next generation of young Welsh men and women to start a business in Wales because they can see it can be done.”
