Newport tech consultancy reflects on first year in business

HSJ Strato, a technology consultancy based in Newport, is reflecting on its first year in business.

Launched in May 2017 by HSJ Accountants, it provides businesses across Wales with IT solutions to streamline everyday operations.

Despite being relatively young, HSJ Strato believes that it’s already made a difference to businesses in South Wales and is ambitious about the future.

Leanne Owen, partner at the Newport-based tech consultancy, said: “The last year has been an incredible experience.  We could never have envisaged Strato taking off in the way that it has.

“We are helping businesses work more efficiently and replacing duplication with automation, all whilst improving the quality of the lives of business owners and staff.

“Stripping out wasted hours and days is at the heart of everything we do. We implement the technology that can improve the performance of a business all while upskilling staff and making workplaces a more agile and enjoyable place to work.”

It works with businesses to help them embed technology that eradicates operational headaches and boost productivity, primarily artificial intelligence and cloud solutions.

Speaking about the company’s journey, Leanne said: “We launched with the ambition of exposing businesses in Wales to some of the world’s most advanced and accessible technology.

“I can proudly say that we have started to unravel the possibilities and open the eyes of business owners to the endless possibilities that technology can offer.

“It doesn’t happen overnight but we can start to change businesses and reduce wasted time by embedding automated processes that allow people to focus on doing what they do best.”

She said cloud systems are transforming the world. “It can be daunting for businesses, but with Making Tax Digital coming, it is best to start as early as you can when it comes to getting your business operating in the cloud where appropriate.

“It isn’t all about saving money, it’s about constructing a better quality of life by ensuring the work you do is essential as opposed to relentless.

“We live in an age where mounds of paperwork can be tackled by software assuming you know how to properly implement it. If you can take the plunge I can guarantee that you’ll thank yourself in the near future.”
