North Wales-based tech firm RFIDdirect is on course to achieve £1 million turnover as a result of major contract wins in Europe.
The firm, which has its head office in Mold, provides radio frequency identification to organisations all over the world. RFID technology allows manufacturers to transform production processes.
Founded by managing director Frits van Calker, the business has achieved a range of growth milestones over the past few years. Last year, it saw turnover increase from £500,000 to £700,000 – and is set to exceed £1 million in 2019.
To further accelerate growth, the RFIDdirect has launched a recruitment drive. It’s looking for software engineers and technical sales specialists to join its seven-person team.
“We are fortunate that the majority of our business comes directly to us because of our reputation in what is an extremely specialised market,” he said
“There are a number of new projects in the pipeline, but my biggest challenge at the moment is finding great engineers and technical sales staff.”
As well as its Welsh headquarters, RFIDdirect has a facility in the German town of Kleve. What’s more, it’s recently won key clients in Europe, including a major horticultural organisation and automotive component manufacturer Kolektor.
Frits added: “We are growing significantly year-on-year and have put in place a vision for where we would like to take the business over the next five years.
“Over the next couple of years, I am anticipating that we will need to at least double the size of our team.
“We offer a number of key benefits including ongoing training and education and the ability to travel as over 90% of our work is currently abroad.”
