We Build Bots fan engagement platform deployed in Newport County AFC
Cardiff-based artificial intelligence firm We Build Bots has teamed up with Newport County AFC to launch a new fan engagement chatbot called ‘Spytty’.
Having gone live earlier this month, the chatbot is aimed at improving fan engagement and customer service during matches and events at the club.
Using artificial intelligence and machine learning technology, the bot retrieves answers to commonly asked questions such as “who are we playing during the next game?”.
As well as interacting with customers and providing information about the club, Spytty will also be used for competitions, tickets and merchandise.
Ben Catton, media manager at Newport County AFC, said: “We have been working with We Build Bots, a local Welsh AI company, for a while on this project and feel that it will help improve engagement with supporters, as well as provide yet another way fans can find out particular information about the Club and the latest news at #NCAFC.”
Founded in April 2016, We Build Bots is the creator of IntelAgent, an AI-powered platform for customer service departments, events, charities, utility providers, publishers and sports clubs.
It’s helping an array of organisations take advantage of artificial intelligence and chatbot systems, including Sport Wales. The firm designed a chatbot to help increase participation in sport and connect teams with clubs.
Paul Shepherd, CEO at We Build Bots, said: “As a lifelong fan, and ex Newport County Youth player, this project was more a labour of love than anything.
“We Build Bots are delighted to help Newport County drive efficiencies off the pitch through AI powered innovations, and we’re chuffed that County now have another channel through which to engage the best fans in the world.”
